There's a lot of information here about leather. You should read it if you want to. If not, know we only use the best leather from the best tanneries for our products. This is why they're superior. This is why they last. This is why we warranty them for life.
What you may not know about tanning.
As a new hide goes through the tanning process, it's put into a huge drum filled with oils, preservatives and coloring. And then it's tumbled. For hours. By the end of the process, the fluids have reached the middle of the hide. Saturation.
Anthology uses only the best high-grade oils, dyes and preservatives. And we tan the leather slow. So when the barrel is done tumbling, our hides are infused to the core.
Leather choice: it matters.
The best leather money can buy is full grain leather. It's also the only leather durable enough for Anthology straps and bags. It's durable because it comes from the top layer of the hide, which means it has all of the grain, and all of the strength. Even better, full grain leather burnishes and beautifies with use. Just the way we like it.
The marks and scrapes and scars are all-natural. That means, you'll see where the cow had been scraped by barbed wire, cactus or mesquite thorns. Maybe even where it was bitten by a coyote, or branded.
There are three other types of leather. Top grain, genuine and bonded. We don't use any of them. Period. Because our products are the best around. And they're only worthy of the absolute best, most durable, most perfect leather. So we spared no expense. And neither will you.
Threads count.
We use stout, thick industrial marine-grade UV-resistant thread. We don't use cotton or nylon. Why? Because they're not as good. See, our thread is four times as strong as nylon thread, and is the same thread used for making airbags and parachutes. That's strength you can trust.
But we do use nylon for something else.
Sewn into the stress points of all our straps and bags is a sturdy nylon strap. Nylon doesn't stretch. So neither will our leather.
Protection. It counts when it matters.
