Do you do custom work?
The long answer: If you’re looking for a custom guitar strap because you want something really unique, and can’t find anything worth buying that reflects you as a musician, I know where you’re at. I wanted the same thing, that’s how Anthology began. I’ve spent days sorting through rivets, weeks traveling to tanneries scouring over different leathers, and months revising my designs that have added up to years of determined effort to give musicians, like yourself, a better alternative.
The short answer: No.
Where can I see one of the guitar straps or gig bags in person?
Currently we are not sold in stores. I’d invite you to my house, but my wife thinks that’s a bit creepy. No offense. We do have a full 30 day money back guarantee if for some reason you’re not happy with your purchase.
Will you burn my name or initials on it?
We no longer offer a personalization option. If this is something you'd like, we recommend taking your strap or bag to a local trophy shop, one that uses a laser for etching. Many trophy shops have begun using lasers. We don't recommend taking it to a tradional hammered tooling leather worker. Our leather is a soft, but rugged full-grain leather, and as such, responds better with lasering than it does with hammering.
What’s the right length of guitar strap for me?
Your best bet is to measure your current guitar strap. Our lengths are all measured from attachment hole to hole.
If you’re buying as a gift and don’t have access to measure the current strap, or you just can’t wait until you get home to take the measurement, there are several factors to consider:
1. Height and weight of the player
2. Guitar type: electric or acoustic
3. Placement of attachment pegs on the guitar
4. How low or high the player hangs the guitar
To get more detailed info on how to choose the right length, see our strap length guide.
We realize there are a lot of variables here to consider, and if you’re buying one of our guitar straps as gift, you could possibly be freaked out by all the possible combinations. If that’s the case, don’t panic, we’re happy to talk through it with you. Please don’t hesitate giving us a call at 816-744-8984. If we don’t answer our phone, please leave a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Would you recommend a 2” or 3” width guitar strap?
I’ll always recommend a 3” width strap first. A 3” strap does a better job of distributing the weight of the guitar, and makes for a more comfortable playing experience. Some players prefer the streamlined look of the 2” strap. They are still comfortable, they just don’t work as hard as the 3” strap.
Will you have more products coming out soon?
Most definitely, we are always working on new designs. We are very meticulous in our design process, and take the time to get it right before we present a product to market. I’ve never been one to just spit something out for the sake of speed or money.
Do you do artist endorsements?
Anthology Gear Wear is a small company dedicated to bringing like-minded musicians the absolute finest quality, unique leather guitar straps and gig bags in the world.
As a small company, we don’t have an A&R team, and we don’t have massive advertising budgets. So the short answer is, no, we don’t do endorsement deals. We won’t pay artists to use our gear, and we don’t discount our gear. The way we look at it is, if we have to pay an artist to use our gear, it diminishes the endorsement.
If you’re looking, you’ll see our guitar straps and gig bags used by anyone from the biggest guitar names in world, to session players, to the local club scene. Our products are worth every penny, and musicians who want the best, know where to go.
Can celebrity musicians get free stuff?
“Hey Brian, Clapton’s manager here, any chance you could send Eric out a free guitar strap? How about “The Revelator” guitar bag? What do you say?”
I’d probably drop the phone, stumble all over myself, rattle off some incoherent mumbo jumbo, then pull it together and say, “Wow, I’m so honored, we’d love to send that out today, would you prefer to pay with Visa or Mastercard?”
Sorry, if we don’t do discounts for the session guys, or the niche studs, doesn’t seem right to do it for the household names.
Ordering and Shipping Questions
Where can I buy your products?
Currently we only sell our products online. We’ve dedicated ourselves to bringing like minded musicians the absolute finest quality guitar straps and gig bags in the world. That said, if for some reason you’re not satisfied with your purchase, we do have a full 30-day money back guarantee on all our products. We don’t think you’ll need it.
How long to get it once I place my order?
If we have your order in stock, we can usually ship between 1-3 days. Priority mail will get your order to you in 1-3 days in most locations across the U.S. Express mail will get it there in 1-2 days in most locations in the U.S. For guaranteed service we also offer UPS next day.
International locations are a bit harder to predict with USPS service. Shipments can be held up by customs both in the U.S. and your country. USPS express mail international, and UPS next day offer tracking numbers for international shipping.
When will your out of stock products be available again?
We try very hard to keep all items in stock, but occasionally we get an unpredictable run on an item. Please know that we’re doing everything we can to build more. Given the unpredictable nature of small-scale manufacturing, we’re not able to give exact availability dates, though generally we can say no longer than 6-8 weeks, and usually between 2-4 weeks.
Currently “The Revelator” guitar bags are made to order, so those will ship 6-8 weeks from the order date.
Can I change my order?
You have 12 hours to change your order. After that, you can contact us, but it could already be en route.
Do you take pre-orders?
Yes, for out of stock items we do accept pre-orders. In fact, we recommend it, so you can be the first to receive an item when we wrap up production.
Can you give me an ETA on my pre-order?
Depending on where we are in the production process, pre-orders can be shipped no later than 6-8 weeks, and usually between 2-4 weeks.
Will you ship to hotels?
Yes we will. We know a lot or our customers are on the road, and need us to ship to their upcoming tour city. As long as we have the item in stock, we can usually get it to your hotel with no problem.
Do you ship to Military bases?
Absolutely! We love and support those who sacrifice for this country. When completing your Shipping Address during checkout, please make note of the following.
The City must be entered as either "APO" or "FPO"
The State must be selected as either "AA" "AE" or "AP"(AE for Armed Forces Europe, AA for Armed Forces Americas, or AP for Armed Forces Pacific).
You must enter your Zip code.
You MUST choose U.S. for country code under shipping options; otherwise shipping fees will be calculated incorrectly.
I live outside the U.S. Would it be possible for you to declare my pedal at a lower value or as a gift so I can save on customs fees?
No. It is illegal for us to declare false values on any goods we ship or declare any goods as gifts for the sole purpose of saving on duty fees. This is considered fraud and we simply cannot accommodate these types of requests.
Can I get a shipping quote?
The best way to do this is to add a product to your Cart, and enter your shipping information on the Cart page. The store will give you a custom shipping quote.
I live outside of North America. Can you ship to me?
Yes we can. Note that all duties and customs fees charged upon arrival are the responsibility of the buyer. We have no way to calculate that for every country.
Can I pay for this via check, money order or bank draft?
No, we don't take money orders or check payments, but you could buy yourself a credit card gift card. They sell them at most grocery stores or other retail chains. Just remember to follow the directions on the packaging to activate it before you shop online with it. Works just like a credit card, but it's not linked to your bank accounts.
Returns and Exchanges
Can I send it back and get something different?
Sure. You can send it back in brand new condition within 30 days, please contact us for information on how to proceed with an exchange.
What is your return policy?
You may return your leather piece only in new condition within 30 days of the date you received it. Please allow ten business days for your refund to process once we receive it. To request a return, please contact us. We will make sure we get back with you within a few business days. Read the full policy here.
What is the warranty?
All of our products have a full 100 year warranty against all defects in materials and workmanship. We can do this because our products are nearly flawless. So, if you have a problem, send it back and we'll repair or replace it for free. It's really that simple. Just don't try to cash in if you've accidentally ruined one of our pieces in the trashing of a hotel room. Because you probably enjoyed that a little too much for it to be a real accident.
Will the color rub off on my clothes?
No. We’ve specifically chosen an ultra soft full-grain leather for the shoulder side of all our guitar straps and shoulder straps that will not bleed.
Is the color in the picture the exact color I get when I order?
Usually, but not always. We’ve specifically chosen leathers that are not exactly the same every time out. We don’t paint or finish our leather to be homogenous. Each piece is unique. There is the possibility of a 20% variation, lighter or darker, from the pictures.
Which leather care products do you recommend?
We recommend Chamberlain's Leather Milk, (www.leather-milk.com). It’s all natural and excellent for the leather. Here are some links to some other conditioners that I’ve heard are pretty good as well:
How do I darken or lighten my leather?
DO NOT USE DYES OR STAINS. Use only oils. Mink oil darkens leather and so do a number of other oils you can find at a leather supply shop. I recommend doing a test on a small section first, so you know what to expect. You can only get it lighter by bending or scratching it.
