“The Reckoner” Leather Laptop Briefcase

To one degree or another, we all participate in this digital era of gadgets. You would have to live pretty deep in a dark cave not to appreciate at least some of the conveniences. Still, all the hyper-connectivity of this not-necessarily-so-brave new world also brings with it a lot of conformity. We may populate the fields, but the parameters are typically pre-set.

And that just triggers our seditious urge to break from the assembly line. The laptop has become standard issue for rigid day trippers and free-spirited musicians alike, but where is it commanded that the way we carry it must be uniform, with all those tedious, personality-free slabs of black neoprene and Velcro? The first hot rods started as standard Fords before they were radically modified — tricked out largely by restless World War II vets who’d developed mechanical skills with Uncle Sam and didn’t particularly want to ride like average Joes back home. Well, in that vein, the creative inspiration for The Reckoner came from the Bonneville Salt Flats, where a handful of dedicated, brilliant maniacs still push the limits to break speed records.

Those boundary obliterators are just cut from a different cloth, and the original body of The Reckoner was designed to convey some of their utterly fearless, hard-driving intensity. No fiberglass replicas here.

The Reckoner will accelerate with age to a deeper perfection while all those electronic gizmos and conventional bags invariably become obsolete and junked.

To us, that’s a beautiful thing. We are not interested in the drab and disposable. Inspired by the defiant individuality and ingenuity of authentic American traditions like the classic hot rod, we built The Reckoner to last and be noticed.

Very nice

Very nice quality. Lifetime of use and will wear well. Heavy duty throughout. Would have liked more options on inside layout and more pockets. Only negative. Quality. I have a guitar case, three guitar straps and a uke case for my daughter. I'm a fan.

Near Perfection

Quality and craftsmanship is spot on. Overall, this bag is worth every penny. Two things I feel potential buyers would like to know...first, the storage pouches lay pretty flat and do not expand to better accommodate items. Where I thought I would be able to put my laptop charger into them, the leather will not accommodate it. Pockets are nice but more limited due to design. Second, pen holders have very little give and do not hold executive style pens or any pen/highlighter that is not really thin barreled. So then you are left to either clip them to one of the other edges which mars the leather or just store them in the storage compartment. Other than these two things, this bag is perfect. It will likely be the last bag you will ever need. As someone who has made good use of Anthology guitar straps over the years it made sense to go with the bag and I am glad that I did.

Best Laptop Bag in the world!

I'm a busy drummer, college drum instructor and clinician. "The Reckoner" laptop bag is a great addition to my music business! It has become my mobile office. It holds my 15" laptop and power supply, music charts, metronome, headphones, pencils, manuscript paper and more. As long as I have an Internet connection, and occasional access to a printer, I have everything I need to manage my work in "The Reckoner".

The laptop bag is a beautiful piece of leather craftsmanship! The bag is so tough that it will protect the contents more than any other briefcase I've seen. I know that it will be the last laptop bag I ever have to buy. After using the “The Seville” drum stick bag for the last five years made by the same company, I knew the matching laptop bag would be a wise use of my money. The Black Whiskey color is amazing! It's unbelievable how many comments I get from musicians, as well as from total strangers, on how amazing both the laptop bag and the drum stick bag look. The neat thing about the Anthology Gear Wear products is that the extreme toughness and functionality are equally matched by the strong visual appeal. Very well designed and built to last!

Conductor's bag

While not advertised as such, the Reckoner Bag (large) works great for me as a conductor. Most oversized scores, iPad, iPhone, batons, pencils, and rehearsal aids all store easily in this beautiful and artful leather bag. The quality of the leather is first-rate and the straps, seams and functionality are terrific. The weight of the bag is substantial when loaded with my materials, but not much more than my previous traditional briefcases that looked and felt ordinary. This leather work of art is worth the price and will undoubtedly serve me for many years of travel to and from rehearsals and performances.
